ABOVE & WITHIN

Dear Friends, Guests and Members,

We continue this week in our series using prepositions, part of our language syntax that describes the relationship of an object to subject in space, time or by virtue of influence or action. In a time of growing uncertainty, darkness, doubt and pain, it's important we allow our scriptures to speak words of inspiration, hope and comfort. They remind us that God is with us, for us, sovereign (above) and servant (within). And, of course, there are so many other prepositional modifiers! 

Okay, maybe that’s a little eggheaded… But really, don’t we all need to remember this Psalm?

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah." Psalm 46:1–3

I do. It’s easy to get lost to the fray, the divisiveness of our times, the rage bait, and the hardships of daily life. It’s easy to get sucked into cycles of work or escapism, to compensate in unhealthy ways. 

My prayer is that our time in worship and word today will help you not only spiritually, but in your daily life—your mental health—your courage and ability to face your fears and challenges, and the conviction that God is for you—whatever comes. It's not about your faithfulness, but the ability to realize and hold onto His faithfulness. It's about making the choice to speak well of God in whatever circumstances we find ourselves, for God Himself is with us.
